2009 KALEIDOSCOPE PRESS RELEASE
The Alliance for the Visual Arts in Akron, a group comprised of over 500 working artists from Akron Society of Artists, Artists of Rubber City, Cuyahoga Valley Art Center and Women’s Art League, presents “Kaleidoscope 2009", a juried exhibition of work by its members, from November 20 - January 2, 2010 at Summit Artspace Gallery located at 140 E. Market Street in Akron. Gallery hours are Thursday-Saturday from 12-5 pm. Call 330.376.8480 or visit www.summitartspace.org for further information. This year’s exhibit was juried by Timothy Callahan, landscape painter and teacher at Cleveland Institute of Art and Cuyahoga Community College, and Mindy Tousley, printmaker/collage artist and Gallery Director at Harris Stanton Gallery in Akron. The gallery is handicap accessible and a wheelchair is available.
A public opening will be held on Friday, November 20 from 6 - 8 pm.
The “Kaleidoscope Award”, selected by popular vote of gallery visitors will be presented during Akron’s “First Night” activities on December 31. The recipient will receive a kaleidoscope designed and created by glass artist Bob Pozarski.
Saturday demonstrations during the exhibition are free and open to the public.
